The Old Barracks Museum will celebrate the 350th anniversary of the founding of New Jersey this weekend by featuring the Trenton arts collective AbOminOg Intl. The artists will ignite their cupolette furnace and pour commemorative medallions. The grounds of the Old Barracks Museum will open at 7 p.m. Saturday night, and the iron pour will begin at dusk. The limited-edition medallions will become available for purchase on Sunday for $50 each. The event is free and open to the public. Members of the collective also have sculptures on display at the Old Barracks.

The AbOminOg Intl. artists collective seeks to teach and assist artists of diverse backgrounds, ages and skill levels in the creation of cast- metal sculptural artworks. The collective was founded in 1999 when a small group of artists constructed a metal casting facility.  The works are made of industrial waste recycled from scrap yards and demolition sites.  Over the years, many artists and art enthusiasts have participated in AbOminOg Intl. metal-casting events, working together to create a wide variety of sculptures ranging from works by children to pieces made by professional sculptors.

Check out the AbOminOg website and the video above for more information about AbOminOg Intl. Special thanks to Zachary Smith and Maria Ivarsson of the Lawrenceville video-photography production team The Color Crew for sharing their video “AbOminOG: Iron Hearts” with our readers.
