Quaker Road Repair Work Rescheduled for July 2

detourRepairs on Quaker Road are now scheduled to begin on July 2, officials said. The work was supposed to take place this month. Officials cited contractor availability for the delay. The repairs are expected to take four to five days and the road will be closed during work hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The work includes spot repairs, leveling, surfacing and striping of the section of the Quaker Road between the D&R Canal bridge and the new Mercer County bridge, and additional spot repairs from the new Mercer County Bridge to the Mercer Road intersection.

No work will be done on the 4th of July or on weekends, and the road will be open on those days. The road will be reopened to full two-way traffic at the end of each work day and will remain open until the start of next work day.  In the event of inclement weather, the work will halt and begin again the following business day.

As part of the project, limited spot repairs also will be made on Lovers Lane between Route 206 and Mercer Road, on Cherry Hill Road between Route 206 and Mount Lucas Road, and on Ewing Street between Route 206 and Mount Lucas Road. Road closures will be in effect in these locations when the work is done. Stay tuned for more information on the dates for the work on these roads.

Editor’s Note: Quaker Road will also be closed  between the canal bridge and Mercer Street this Saturday, June 28th, between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., police said. They did not say why the road will be closed.
