Two Kittens Stolen from SAVE Animal Shelter in Princeton

tabbykittenTwo tabby kittens allegedly were stolen from the SAVE animal shelter on Herrontown Road last Saturday, police said.

A volunteer at SAVE called police in the afternoon to report that two males stole two kittens. The fee to adopt a cat is normally $150. The volunteer allegedly saw two men, Hazma Cheema, 19, of Iselin, and and John Moore, 19, of Plainsboro on the SAVE property, outside, holding the kittens. The two allegedly fled when they saw the volunteer.

Police apprehended Cheema and Moore and recovered both kittens unharmed. Cheema and Moore were taken to police headquarters, processed, and charged with burglary and theft. A third male, Corey Thompson, 19, of Plainsboro, was later arrested at police headquarters and charged with conspiracy to commit theft and hindering apprehension.

All three were released on their own recognizance. It is unclear whether the three were taking the kittens as a prank or were just trying to get out of paying the adopting fees.
