Former Princeton resident George Jamison Jr., 43, was shot and killed Wednesday night while waiting for a bus in Trenton.

Jamison, who lived in Princeton for many years and moved to Pennington in 2012, was sitting on a bus stop bench on North Broad Street when a black male attempted to rob him at gunpoint just before 10:30 p.m.  He was shot in the back and was later pronounced dead at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

The suspect was observed bicycling away from the scene toward East Hanover Street, according to the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.

A second man was also shot and killed on July 30 around 9:40 p.m. in the city, but the two murders appear to be unrelated.

Jamison, who until a few years ago worked at SERV Behavioral Health System, is survived by his wife, Rachel Brown, and his three children. We will post a full obituary and funeral/memorial service details when they become available.

  1. They are a lovely family, and this is a terrible tragedy. Rae Jamison is a very giving person who works with special needs children and has been, among other things, a Girl Scout troop leader, and the Jameson kids are all bright sparks with bubbly personalities, who have been missed in the Princeton schools.

    1. Im a client at serv and i now his family my heart goes out to them and he was a great father to those kids and a great man i and everyone who nows him will miss him

  2. Wow I worked late that night that this incident happened and it just saddens me that his life was taken senselessly. I will continue to pray for his wife and children.
