Kids can climb a rock wall, play games, swim and more tonight at Princeton’s annual Community Night Out. The event, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Community Park Pool, is one of several celebrations being hosted across Mercer County.

The Central Jersey gatherings are part of National Night Out, a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. For the past 30 years, towns across the country have participated in the event that is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, encourage participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

It’s a free family event that includes hot dogs and other refreshments. Police, fire and first aid equipment will be on display, and several local business and community groups will be at the event. Kids can swim in the Community Park Pool for free.
