Peanut and Almond Butters Recalled for Possible Salmonella Risk

nutbutterAn organic food company is voluntarily recalling six brands of peanut butter and almond butter for possible Salmonella contamination. The recall includes some Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods store brands of almond butter.

nSpired Natural Foods Inc. has recalled retail lots of Arrowhead Mills Peanut Butters, MaraNatha Almond Butters and Peanut Butters, and other grocery store brand nut butters after routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration. The MaraNatha and Arrowhead Mills nut butters are sold in major grocery stores, including Wegmans and ShopRite.

The company received reports of four illnesses that may be associated with these specific products.
