Paving of Vandeventer, Moore and Park Place Slated for This Week

detourFor more than a year, residents of the Vandeventer Avenue, Park Place, and Moore Street neighborhood have endured jackhammers, construction vehicles, road closures and detours as the sanitary sewer work was completed. The paving of the three streets is scheduled to take place this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, said Bob Kiser, head of the town’s engineering department. Roads will be closed during work hours and detours will be in place.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, the contractor will be installing the final surface pavement on Moore Street from Nassau Street to Franklin Avenue. The work is scheduled to begin at Nassau Street and progress toward Franklin Avenue. The work is planned to begin at 7 a.m. and is anticipated to be completed by the end of the work day, weather permitting.

Moore Street and Willow Street residents are asked to remove vehicles from their driveways beginning on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, prior to the start of work. Residents will not be permitted to park vehicles on Moore Street due to the work being performed on the roadway. Residents will be allowed to park in legal on-street non-metered parking spaces on Madison Street, Spruce Street, Hamilton Avenue, Hawthorne Avenue, Houghton Street, Franklin Avenue, and Moore Street north of Franklin Avenue where work is not taking place. Vehicles should not be parked near intersections in order to allow access for the paving equipment.

The Moore Street access to the Park Place East parking lot and the St. Paul’s parking lot, and the exit from the Princeton High School parking lot, will be closed throughout this operation. The Park Place East parking lot will be accessible from Park Place via Madison Street or Vandeventer Avenue.

The Moore Street / Hamilton/Wiggins intersection will also be closed during this operation. Police traffic control directors and detours will be in place to move traffic around the work area.

On Wednesday the final surface pavement also will be installed on the Park Place West parking lot driveways if any work was not completed Tuesday. Use Vandeventer Avenue as the main access to the parking lot while this work is taking place.

After the final paving of Moore Street is completed, drivers will be prohibited from using the road for a 2-hour period  until about 7 p.m. to prevent permanent marring of the blacktop during its “curing period”. Residents should have access to their driveways after 7 p.m. at the end of the day. In the event of inclement weather, the work will take place on Thursday.
Collection of organics will take place before 7 p.m. on Wednesday morning on Moore Street.  Place your bin at the curb prior to 6 a.m.

Residents affected by the Wednesday roadwork will be issued temporary parking permits.

The pavement striping (crosswalks, etc.) has been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week, September 2 and 3. The lining of the sanitary sewer has tentatively been rescheduled to be completed in third and fourth weeks of September. Additional notice will be provided prior to this work.
