Residents have complained that some of the construction work being conducted at the former hospital site in downtown Princeton is too loud.

Contractors have been making repairs to the parking deck at the site this week. The demolition of the hospital buildings is expected to begin next week.

The Princeton Health Department, in conjunction with the Mercer County Division of Public Health, inspected the parking garage and took preliminary noise readings. Princeton Health Officer Jeff Grosser said one location out of five areas tested around the parking garage demonstrated readings that were in violation of decibel limits set in the noise code for New Jersey.

“The parking garage contractor and AvalonBay representative were immediately notified of this exceedance, which resulted in their immediate action to attempt to lessen the total noise,” Grosser said.

The  noise came from work the parking garage contractor was doing to repair the third deck surface.
