Pedestrian in Wheelchair Hit, Killed by Car in Lawrence

LawrencePoliceaccidentA Lawrence resident was hit by a car and killed last night while crossing Brunswick Pike (Business Route 1) at Texas Avenue in a wheelchair, police said.

Andrea D’Agostino, 57, was being wheeled across the street by a friend just before 10 p.m. when  a silver Honda Accord driven by a 63-year-old  man from Morrisville, Pa. hit her. The friend who was pushing her wheelchair was taken to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. She has a fractured left hip and pelvis.

Lawrence EMS treated the driver of the vehicle for a minor injury at the scene and he was released. Paramedics from Capital Health Regional at Fuld responded to assist with treatment. The Slackwood Fire Company assisted with lighting and traffic.

The motor vehicle crash is being investigation by Ofc. James Larkin, Det. William Chester and Mercer County Prosecutors Office Det. Don Santora.
