Princeton Today: Princeton Parking Task Force

noovernightparkingThe parking task force for the town of Princeton will hold its first meeting to discuss overnight parking at noon today in meeting room B at the municipal building at 400 Witherspoon Street.

  1. I hope the parking task force will hold meetings in the evening to gather community input. Many of the people who need overnight parking work during the day.

  2. Based on my experience after the consolidation – equalizing the ordinances are usually done to the worse of taxpayers. For example certain taxes were always brought to the highest of two levels.

What will happen to the overnight parking?
In the Township the overnight parking was permitted for everybody on certain streets on certain days while in the Borough was not allowed at all.

I would not be surprised that outcome of all of this is banning the overnight parking across the ‘unified’ Princeton.

Overnight parking is banned due to irrational fear of criminals and thieves probably more than 20-30 years ago.

Life of many residents would be much easier if overnight parking is permitted for residents – period.

Town administration likes to have many sometimes confusing ordinances to justify their existence.
