Princeton Today: Culinary Tasting at MCCC

Culinary_tasting Mercer County Community CollegeBring your appetites to Mercer County Community College tonight for a culinary tasting event hosted by the school’s culinary arts program. The event will feature more than a dozen of the region’s finest restaurants.

The tasting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the MCCC cafeteria, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor. In addition to food prepared by area restaurants, MCCC Culinary Arts students and alumni will be staffing tables and giving participants the opportunity to see them in action.

Participating restaurants include Jersey Girl Café, Blue Bottle Café, Palace of Asia, Agricola, Jammin’ Crepes,  the Nassau Inn, Pure, Small World Coffee, Sadie Cakes, Stone Terrace, and the Terra Momo Bread Company.

The evening will also feature a silent auction. Tickets are $25 for MCCC alumni, students, faculty, and staff; general admission is $50. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Chef Anne Lumberger and Chef Sari Widmayer Pastry Arts Memorial Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available online or at the Kelsey Theatre.

Princeton University Women’s Field Hockey vs. Maryland – The Tigers take on the University of Maryland at the 1952 Stadium at Princeton University. Game starts at 6 p.m.

Screening of Senegalese film “Tey (Aujourd’hui)” -The Films for Thought: Graduate Student Films Series  at Princeton University presents the critically acclaimed film, “Tey (Aujourd’hui),” which follows a Senegalese man who has recently returned home to Dakar after living for many years in America, on his last day of life, at 4:30 p.m., Betts Auditorium, School of Architecture. The screening will be introduced by Wendy Belcher, associate professor of comparative literature and African American studies.

The Understudy at McCarter Theater  – Theresa Rebeck drama, directed by Adam Immerwahr. The show must go on—even when everything seems to be going hilariously wrong. It’s the understudy rehearsal for a hit new Broadway play, but the set technician is high, the cocky movie star doesn’t understand the script. The understudy is surprised to find that the stage manager is his jilted ex-fiancée. Backstage friction takes center stage in a comedy about art, celebrity, and the things we do for the business we love. Just another day in the life of an understudy. 7:30 p.m., Matthews Theatre, 91 University Place, Princeton. Tickets $25 and up. Through November 2.

COMMUTE

Princeton – Random Road will be closed today and Thurs. between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to allow for milling and paving. Detours will be in place.

Linden Lane will be close today and Thurs. between Hamilton Ave. and Spruce St. from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for sewer work. Detours will be in place.

Lawrence – Princeton Pike is one-lane only from Lenox Drive to Fackler Road for road work.

Hillsborough – Nighttime Road paving on So Branch Road between Beekman/River & Amwell Rd bet Woods/Clerico will begin Oct. 16. Expect delays.
