Cooper’s Hawk Visits Hinds Plaza

Princeton resident Dan Preston captured video of a Cooper’s Hawk trying unsuccessfully to capture a flock of sparrows on Hinds Plaza Tuesday afternoon. Thank you to Dan for giving us permission to repost his video.

  1. Good call and video. Looks like an immature Cooper’s – still, it’s difficult to differentiate from Sharp-Shinned Hawk.

  2. We saw a bird very similar to this in our back yard on Maple St yesterday afternoon.Blurry photo as he was flying away attached. My husband thinks he may have been attracted by our bird feeder.
    Does any know if they go after kitties? We have a 5 lb kitty who only goes out in our back garden. I know of people who have had their small cats taken away by hawks.
