Security Tightened at Trenton-Mercer Airport After Frontier Airlines Receives Threat

frontier-1Passengers who had already boarded a plane at the Trenton-Mercer Airport that was headed to Tampa were asked to deboard the plane this evening after a caller made a threatening call to the airline.

The plane was searched with bomb sniffing dogs and all of the passengers were rescanned, a witness at the airport said. Passengers headed to other cities were also held back from going to their gates until the planes were searched.

An official at the Transportation Security Administration said measures were taken as a precaution after someone made a threatening call to the airline. The official did not elaborate on what the caller said.

After the search and the rescanning of passengers were concluded, planes were cleared to leave.

Editor’s Note: The original story stated that passengers on a flight to Milwaukee were deboarded. The Tampa flight was the one that was deboarded. Planet Princeton regrets the error.
