Candler School of Theology Professor to Deliver Princeton Seminary’s Annual King Lecture

The Reverend Dr. Teresa L. Fry Brown, historiographer and executive director of research and scholarship for the African American Methodist Episcopal Church, professor of homiletics at the Candler School of Theology, and director of black church studies at Emory University in Atlanta, will give Princeton Theological Seminary’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture on Thursday, February 5 at 8 p.m.

Her lecture is titled “Overcoming Justice Fatigue.” It will be held in Miller Chapel on the Seminary’s main campus on Mercer Street in Princeton.

A prolific author, Fry Brown’s books include “Delivering the Sermon: Voice, Body and Animation in Proclamation”, “Can A Sister Get a Little Help?: Advice and Encouragement for Black Women in Ministry”, “The 2006 African American History Devotional”, and numerous articles and essays in various publications.

Brown holds a doctorate degree in religious and theological studies from the Iliff School of Theology and the University of Denver, and master’s of divinity from the Iliff School of Theology. She has extensive teaching and preaching experience in national and international academic and ecumenical settings. She is an ordained itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and serves as the associate minister and minister for worship and arts at New Bethel AME Church in Lithonia, Ga.
