Blizzard Warning in Effect for Parts of Central New Jersey Monday Afternoon Until Tuesday Evening

Winter storm warning Jan 25The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a blizzard warning for parts of New Jersey and a winter storm warning for most of New Jersey, Bucks County, Philadelphia, and Delaware. The blizzard warning and storm warning will be in effect from noon on Monday until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Central New Jersey area could see up to two feet of snow. As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service predicted that between 18 and 24 inches of snow would fall in the Princeton area between Monday and Tuesday night.

Snow will fall between midnight tonight and 5 a.m. Monday. Leave extra time for the morning commute. Road conditions could be slippery.

Snow will continue through the day. The snow is expected to become heavy at times late Monday afternoon and continue through Tuesday morning. Snowfall rates of a couple of inches per hour could occur, tapering off Tuesday afternoon.

Blowing and drifting snow will add to the hazardous conditions. Visibility as low as a quarter mile will make driving very hazardous or impossible. Stay home during the storm if you can.

Wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour are expected Monday, and gusts up to 30 miles per hour are expected Monday night into Tuesday.

Temperatures will range from the mid 20s to the lower 30s Monday, then drop into the lower to mid 20s Monday night into Tuesday.

Systemwide cross-honoring of NJ Transit rail, light rail, bus passes and tickets in effect from Mon, Jan. 26 through and including Wed, Jan. 28.

Early Dismissal Monday, Jan. 26 for the Princeton Public Schools. The high school will dismiss at 12:35. The middle school and elementary schools will dismiss at 1. Traffic conditions in the afternoon may cause some buses to be delayed.

The Cambridge School is closed on Monday.

The Princeton Charter School will have early dismissal at noon.

Montgomery schools will also have early dismissals.

The Princeton Montessori school will have an early closing at 1 p.m. on Monday.

Pennington Montessori will have a 12:15 dismissal Monday.

The South Brunswick Schools will close two hours early Monday.

Princeton Community Works has been rescheduled from Monday, Jan. 26, to Friday, Jan. 30, 5 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., at the Frist Campus Center at Princeton University.
