Princeton Awarded $300,000 Safe Routes to School Federal Grant

Safe routes to school Princeton grant

The town of Princeton has been awarded a $300,000 Safe Routes to School federal grant for pedestrian upgrades to two Harrison Street traffic signals.

Princeton Charter School parents raised concerns to the Princeton Police Traffic Safety Bureau about the safety of the crossings on Harrison Street at Hamilton Avenue and Franklin Avenue. Local and state officials worked together to seek the funding to replace the existing traffic signals at the Hamilton Avenue and Franklin Avenue intersections with ADA-compliant, pedestrian friendly signals.

  1. What a pity “Safe Routes to School” wasn’t taken into account when the Hamilton Street safe cycling network provisions were discussed. Lack of joined-up thinking, as usual.
