Princeton Recreation Department Staffers Honored by New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association

Princeton Recreation Department Administrative Assistant Vikki Caines was named the New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association Employee of the Year at the annual association awards dinner, held in Atlantic City earlier this month.

Retired Recreation Director Jack Roberts was given the Frederick C. Sutro Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Caines, a 17-year employee of Princeton Recreation, was honored as the statewide employee of the year for her work creating community gardens, managing the Community Park Pool customer service staff, coordinating community bus trips, organizing women’s platform tennis leagues, and her outstanding overall service to the community.

Roberts worked for the Princeton Recreation Department from 1970 to 2010. He was honored for outstanding lifetime service the parks association and for continued volunteer service since his retirement in 2010. Roberts continues to volunteer his time as a member of the New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association public policy committee as well as volunteer commitments to the Princeton Parks and Recreation Fund, Montgomery Friends of Open Space and the Mercer County Wildlife Center.
