Princeton Grad Student in Stable Condition, Driver Charged with Reckless Driving in April 8 Accident

princetonpolice_2Princeton resident Steven Cruz, 20, was charged with reckless driving and one count of failing to yield to a pedestrian in the accident that took place on Washington Road the evening of April 8.

The pedestrian, Princeton University graduate student Nyssa Emerson, 25, remains hospitalized. Police said she is “in stable but guarded condition.”

Cruz was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius, travelling southbound on Washington Road approaching the area of the marked crosswalk located on Washington Road south of Ivy Lane just after 9:30 p.m. the night of the accident. Emerson was crossing from the west side of Washington Road to the east side when she was struck by the Toyota. She was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk
