Princeton Police Increase Presence Near Schools After Luring Attempt and Groping Incident

princeton policePrinceton Police Department leaders announced this afternoon that more police officers will be stationed near Princeton schools during arrival and dismissal times due to recent incidents.

Earlier this week a boy reported that a man tried to lure him to get in a sports utility vehicle. Last week a girl reported that a man groped her when she was walking to school.

“We’ve drastically increased our presence in school areas  and areas where children walk to and from schools,” Princeton Police Chief Nick Sutter said. “We have officers stationed in various locations, and we have other officers patrolling the areas in police cars.”

Sutter said the extra police presence is for both the safety of the children and the comfort of parents.

“At the same time, we are aggressively pursuing the investigation into these matters,”  Sutter said.

The police department’s Safe Neighborhood Bureau monitors activity around the area schools. They will be joined by a contingent of uniformed officers in patrolling private and public schools throughout the municipality in a combined effort in keeping all Princeton students safe.

Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the Princeton Police Department at (609) 921-2100.
