Princeton Police Blotter: Bike Theft at JW Middle School, Burglaries at Residences and Businesses

princetonpolice_2On May 20 just after midnight, Brendon Byrne, III, the grandson of former New Jersey Governor Brendan Byrne, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Byrne, 22, was arrested at the corner of Washington Road and Prospect Avenue. Byrne is a student at Princeton University and is a member of Tiger Inn, one of the oldest eating clubs at the school. Byrne’s family lives in Princeton and he graduated from the Lawrenceville School.

On May 22 at about 8:30 a.m., someone allegedly stole a coffee pot from the Smith’s Ace Hardware store at the Princeton Shopping Center. The suspect is described as a white female, approximately 5’8″, with a thin build and shoulder-length blonde hair. She was wearing a pink shirt and dark blue jeans, and was carrying a blue purse or tote bag. The woman was captured by store surveillance cameras stealing a Melitta Pour Over Coffee Maker valued at $14.99.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Boudinot Street on May 23 at 11:36 p.m. for allegedly possessing marijuana and a weapon. After a motor vehicle stop on Boudinot Street, Kevin Marrero of Dover, Del. was arrested for being in possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of an expandable asp. He was processed and released with summonses.

On May 23 at noon, a Princeton resident was arrested after someone reported an unwanted male at Small World Coffee’s Nassau Street location. Evan Williams, 49, was issued a summons for defiant trespassing and was forced to leave the coffee shop.

After a motor vehicle stop on Paul Robeson Place on May 23, Trenton resident Cleveland Williams was arrested on warrants from te Trenton Municipal Court and Atlantic City Municipal Court totaling $2,897. He was turned over to Trenton Police.

A boy’s bicycle was stolen from John Witherspoon Middle School some time between May 22 and May 24. The bike was locked to a bike rack located in front of the John Witherspoon Middle School. The Trek bike was valued at $650.

A Dodds Lane resident reported that between May 21 and May 25, someone pried open the rear sliding glass door of the resident’s home and stole assorted silver valued at $2,000.

A woman reported losing her Pennsylvania driver’s license in the area of the 100 block of Nassau Street on May 19. She couldn’t find it when retracing her steps.

Sometime overnight between May 19 and May 20, someone entered a business on the 200 block of Nassau Street  and stole $225 from a cash register. On the same night, someone forcibly entered a rear door to a business on the first block of Nassau Street and stole cash and gift certificates totaling more than $300.

A New Brunswick resident was arrested for allegedly shoplifting at the Princeton University Store on May 21. Police said Alfredo Contreras, 43,  shoplifted $264.50 worth of merchandise. He also had an outstanding warrant from the New Brunswick Municipal Court for $750. He was processed by the Princeton Police Department and and turned over to New Brunswick Police.

A Redding Circle resident reported that May 15, someone slashed two of her car tires valued at $200 each while her car was parked in Redding Circle.

An employee of Ace Hardware reported that on May 11, an unknown female stole an Oxo Tea Kettle valued at $34.99 from the store.  The female was described as white, 40-50 years of age, with short brown hair and glasses. She was wearing a dark-colored shirt and pants.

A Wilton Street resident reported leaving his wallet at a restaurant on Spring Street on May 17 and discovered it missing when he returned to search for it.  The value of the wallet plus cash and credit cards totaled $250.

A Fair Lawn resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated in May 17 at 2:18 a.m. after a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Washington Road at Prospect Avenue.  Aleksandr Muravyev, 47, was processed at police headquarters and later released with summonses.

On May 18, an unknown individual entered a residence on the 100 block of Mountain Avenue through an unlocked front door and stole various items, including jewelry.
