Seven Places to Catch Fireworks in the Princeton Area This Week

                  Following are seven Princeton area towns where you can get your fill of Independence Day fireworks this week.

Princeton’s fireworks usually take place rain or shine. Some other towns have rain dates, so check back if it is raining on the evening of one of the following scheduled events. Will will update this post over the course of the week.

Wednesday, July 1

Montgomery Fireworks – Front lawn of Montgomery High School, 1016 Rt. 601 in Skillman. No pets or alcohol. Picnics welcome.Starting at 6 p.m. there will be games and vendors. Grilled foods, drinks, kettle corn and more. Priority Parking passes on the high school grounds are available for $15, cash or personal check, at the Otto Kaufman Community Center, 356 Skillman Road, Skillman, NJ 08558 (across from the side entrance of Montgomery High School). The Community Center will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. through July 1st. Call (609) 466-3023. The local band, “Pi Fight”, will be playing at 7 p.m. After the Star Spangled Banner at about 9:15 p.m. the fireworks display will begin.

Thursday, July 2

Spirit of Princeton Fireworks – The best viewing site is from the Princeton University sports fields immediately next to the University Stadium. Fields open at 7 p.m. for picnics. No alcoholic beverages or smoking. Fireworks at dusk, usually just after 9 p.m. Rain or shine.

South Brunswick Fireworks – 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the fields of Crossroads Middle School. The school is located on the corner of Major Road and Kingston Lane. There will be no parking allowed on Major Road near the school. Fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:15 pm.

Hamilton Fireworks and Concert – Veterans Park. Renaissance Orchestra concert begins at 6p.m. Food available for purchase. Fireworks begin around 9 p.m.

East Windsor Independence Day Celebration – Etra Lake Park. 6 p.m. concert features Jerry Rife’s Rhythm Kings Dixieland Jazz Band. Trenton Brass Quintet Plus One at 7:30 p.m.. Fireworks begin around 9:30pm. Rain date July 5th.

Franklin Township –  Franklin Municipal Complex, 475 DeMott Lane. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with music by the Once Again Band performing Motown hits.  There will also be activities for the children and  foods for sale, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.

Friday, July 3

Lawrence Township – Annual celebration at Rider University. Concert at 7 p.m. The fireworks beginning at approximately 9:45 p.m.
