Princeton Police Blotter: Bunn Drive Car Accident, Check Scam, Bike Thefts

princetonpolice_2On June 29 at about 6:30 p.m., a 2015 Audi Q5 operated by Princeton resident Guatomi Chakrabarty was traveling east on Bunn Drive and crossed over the center line, strikinga 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer head on. The Lancer was operated by New Mexico resident Cynthia Veitch, who was traveling west on Bunn Drive near North Harrison Street.

The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.

Chakrabarty sustained lower body pain and refused medical transport. Veich sustained upper and lower body pain and was transported to Capital Health Regional Hospital in Trenton by Princeton First Aid and Rescue. She needed to be extricated from her vehicle. The Audi Q5 sustained extensive front end damage and airbag deployment.

The Mitsubishi Lancer sustained extensive front end damage and multiple front and side airbag deployment. Both vehicles were towed from the roadway by Kwik Response Towing in Hillsborough.

One June 28, a resident reported that sometime between June 22 and June 28, someone stole his locked boy’s mountain bike valued at $600 from a John Witherspoon School bike rack.

A Benjamin Rush Lane resident reported that sometime during the overnight hours on June 27 and June 28, someone flattened the two front tires of her vehicle while it was parked on Queenston Place. One tire was flattened by letting air out and the other was slashed with a blade.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Nassau Street at 1:56 a.m. on June 20, Lawrence resident Rivin Mendez, 27, was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated. He was processed at police headquarters and later released with summonses.

Subsequent to a report of a possible drunk driver in the parking lot of 245 Nassau Street on June 25 just after 8 p.m., Trenton resident Pedro Aguayo-Ramos, 33, was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated. He was processed at police headquarters and later released with summonses.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Mt. Lucas Road on June 24, Princeton resident Yvette Kelsey, 24, was arrested on a Hamilton Township Municipal Court warrant for $2,500. She was released after posting bail.

A woman reported that sometime between June 4 and June 5, someone stole her jewelry totaling $2,820 from her room while she was being treated at Princeton House, which is located on Herrontown Road.

A Westerly Road resident reported that after applying for online babysitting employment on June 24, someone in Brooklyn sent her a fraudulent check for $2,654.18, directed her to keep $350 and send back the $2,304 in change to Brooklyn.

The Princeton Recreation Department reported on June 23 that someone drove a vehicle onto Smoyer Park’s main soccer field, causing damage to the grass and possibly the sprinkler system heads. Cost of repairs is unknown.

A boy reported thatsometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on June 23, someone stole his boy’s mountain bike bicycle valued at $300.00 from a Community Park Pool bike rack.

An Adams Drive resident reported that on June 23, someone stole his Ross Men’s 290S bicycle valued at $273 from the bike rack located outside Princeton High School’s guidance office.

On the afternoon of June 17, a man reported that someone stole his wallet and credit cards on the Princeton Theological Seminary campus and used his Discover Card to make fraudulent purchases totaling $465 at stores in the area.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Ewing Street on June 26, Princeton resident Cryril Okoye, 54, was arrested for allegedly hindering apprehension after giving false identifying information to police. Okoye was also wanted on a Jersey City Municipal Court warrant for $100. He was released with summonses after posting bail.

On June 26, Princeton resident Tsega Firdu, 36, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for disrupting a Princeton Municipal Court morning court session. She was processed and released with a summons.

Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on State Road on June 27, Trenton resident Erin Cade, 21, was arrested on a Trenton Municipal Court warrant for $1,432. He was released on bail.

A Ridgeview Road resident reported that during the overnight hours from June 27 to June 28, someone damaged the inside and outside of her car while it was parked in her driveway. The repair cost was unknown at the time of the police blotter release.
