turning basin park signJust after 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, police received a report that a canoe had flipped over in the Delaware-Raritan Canal.

Police, emergency workers and the Princeton First Aid Water Rescue Unit met with a 40-year old woman at Turning Basin Park just off Alexander Road who reported that a canoe containing her, her husband, 42, and their small child overturned in the canal.

The woman and her child managed to get into a nearby friend’s canoe and paddle safely to shore.  The man managed to upright his overturned canoe and get in, but somehow lost his way paddling back to the park.  West Windsor Police located the man one mile away from Turning Basin Park, safe and uninjured. The woman and man refused medical treatment.
