The Witherspoon Grill’s seventh annual Harvest and Music Festival will be help from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11 on Hinds Plaza in downtown Princeton.

Admission to the event is free, and proceeds benefit the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.

“We chose the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen because they help feed people who are hungry and in need of food,” said Jack Morrison of the JM Group. “We live our lives around food, and feel strongly
about helping others get the food they need. In addition to raising money for TASK at our festival, we also run a food drive from the beginning of September until the middle of October. In the past, we have collected more than 1,000 pounds of dry goods to donate.”

You can drop off food at the festival, or at the Witherspoon Grill or Blue Point Grill. Some of the items needed by TASK include: instant oatmeal packets, canned soup, fruit singles, juice boxes, dry pasta, canned tuna fish, canned vegetables and canned beans.

The festival features bands, food, drinks and family-friendly activities. Bands for 2015 include Franklin & Alison, Pi Fight, Joe Vadala & Ocean Country.

Kids can take part in a pie-eating contest and compete to win a new
bike donated by Jay’s Cycles. Adults can join in the fun and do battle in the annual corn cob eating contest sponsored by Tico’s Eatery & Juice Bar.

The event has raised more than $17,000 to date. Sponsors include the JM Group (Witherspoon Grill, Blue Point Grill and Nassau Street Seafood), NJM Insurance Group, Callaway Henderson Sotherby’s International Realty, and Carl S. DeFazio Private Investigations, Borden Perlman Salisbury & Kelly, NHKT Urban Renewal, Mercedes- Benz of Princeton, Nassau Inn & Yankee Doodle Tap Room, La Jolie Salon & Spa, the Bank of Princeton, and PNC Bank.
