Gas Main Leak on Hardy Drive in Princeton

A gas main was struck by a contractor this morning on Hardy Drive in Princeton.

Just before 10 a.m., Princeton Police, the Princeton Fire Department and the Princeton First Aid & Rescue were dispatched after the leak was reported. PSE&G also responded to the scene and arrived at 9:55 a.m.

A 2-inch gas main was struck by a backhoe operator with the Hillis Group,  a company based in Easton, P. The contractor was digging in  a cul de sac area preparation for planting trees. The backhoe operator was reportedly uninjured and there was no additional injury at the scene, police said.

There was no property damage to any surrounding residences.  Police blocked off the area to traffic until the gas leak was repaired.

The gas leak was reported safe and under control by PSE&G at 10:37 a.m.
