Two People Injured in Multi-Car Crash on Route 206

princetonpolice_2Thursday, Nov. 12, at about 7:30 a.m., a 2003 Honda Accord operated by a 17-year-old male was traveled south on Bayard Lane just south of Boudinot Street when the car crossed over the center line and struck two cars that were traveling north on Bayard Lane.

The Honda hit a 2005 Nissan Altima operated by Michael Kovacs of Mercerville, and behind him a 2005 Audi A6 operated by Daphine Corbin of Belle Mead.  A 2008 Honda Accord operated by Ann Monaghan of Princeton, traveling north behind the Audi A6, slammed on the brakes to avoid the accident and was struck in the rear by a Ford pickup truck operated by Felipe Lopez of Lawrenceville.

The 2003 Honda Accord sustained extensive front end damage and was towed from the scene by Kwik Towing of Hillsborough. Both the 2005 Nissan Altima and the 2005 Audi A6 sustained extensive left side damage and were towed by Kwik Towing. The 2008 Honda Accord and the Ford pickup sustained only minor bumper damage and were driven away from the scene.

Drivers Michael Kovacs and Daphine Corbin suffered non-life threatening upper body injuries and were transported to the University Medical Center at Plainsboro by the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad.

The 17 year old driver was issued a summons for careless driving and failure to maintain lanes.

Traffic was detoured away from the accident scene during the investigation, causing major backups in the area.  The road was reopened at 9 a.m.
