The Council of the Humanities at Princeton University is hosting a discussion about the new film “Spotlight” tonight, Dec. 8, after the 7 p.m. screening at the Garden Theatre on Nassau Street in downtown Princeton.

Limited tickets for the 7 p.m. showing are available for purchase by the public. Princeton University students, faculty, staff and guests will be admitted to the screening for free on a first-come, first-served basis. The panel discussion is expected to begin at about 9:15 p.m.

The critically acclaimed film shows how enterprising reporters dug up startling facts about the Catholic priest abuse scandal in Boston in 2001 and 2002. The panel discussion after the film will feature nationally prominent journalists who will discuss the craft of accountability reporting.

The conversation will be led by Ferris Journalism Professor Joe Stephens, a veteran investigative reporter for The Washington Post who has written extensively about sexual abuse in the church.

Panelists include James B. Steele, a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning writer for Vanity Fair magazine, and visiting professor Laura Secor, a former Boston Globe reporter who freelances for The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine and other publications.
