David Bowie Tribute: Free Screening of ‘Labyrinth’ on Jan. 15 in Princeton

LabyrinthTo honor musician and actor David Bowie, who died this week at age 69 after battling cancer, Labyrinth Books in downtown Princeton will be screening the movie “Labyrinth” at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 15. The 1986 adventure fantasy film directed by Jim Hensen and produced by George Lucas features Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, and lots of puppets.

The movie is about a selfish 16-year old girl who is given 13 hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King, who is played by Bowie.

“Labyrinth” started as a collaboration between Jim Henson and Brian Froud, who previously collaborated on  “The Dark Crystal.” Terry Jones of Monty Python wrote the first draft of the “Labyrinth” script early in 1984, drawing on Brian Froud’s sketches for inspiration.

The screening is free and open to the public. Labyrinth Books is located at 122 Nassau Street.

  1. I believe that Mr. Bowie was 69 rather than 89. If not, he could have been a parent to the singers of the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.

Although I have never seen Labyrinth, it might be worth checking out at Labyrinth Books..
