Main Roads Remain Hazardous, NJTransit Still Shut Down

Police are asking residents to stay home because roads are hazardous and the storm will continue through Saturday evening. There is an icy layer below the snow in some areas. Heavy winds are also making visibility difficult.

Officers are encountering numerous motorists stranded on roadways. This creates a safety risk for both residents and police officers, and you may have to call a towing service. Police recommend that you shelter in place until the snow event is over and plows have had a chance to clear the roadways. Main roadways will be cleared first followed by secondary roads. Because of the large amount of snow this will take some time.

Highway travel is difficult and some drivers wo have attempted driving on Route 1 could be seen on traffic cameras sliding and spinning out on.

NJ Transit bus, train, and lightrail service is still suspended is will likely remain suspended for the rest of today. We will post updates when they are available.
