A Princeton man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 48-year-old woman in downtown Princeton Friday night.

Arnoldo Agreda-Rodriguez, 43, was arrested at his residence on Green Street on Monday.

He was charged with one count of terroristic threats and one count of simple assault.  Bail was set at $15,000, with a 10 percent posting option.

Police said the investigation revealed that the victim, a 48-year-old female Princeton resident, was previously acquainted with the accused and was not randomly targeted.

Agreda-Rodriguez was transported to the Mercer County Correctional Center because he was unable to post bail.

The assault took place at about 9:45 p.m. in the Witherspoon and Green Street area.

The victim was heading to her night job cleaning a building, walking on Witherspoon street near Green Street, when she was allegedly approached from behind and struck in the head. She was  assaulted and was brought to 20 Green Street, where the assault continued before she was able to escape by jumping from a window.

Neighbors told Planet Princeton they witnessed the woman jump from a second story window. She landed on the driveway and then fled from the scene. A neighbor out cleaning snow off his car called police and they and were able to locate the woman. The Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad then treated her and took her to Capital Health. She had multiple injuries, including head injuries.

The house on Green Street has been vacant for many years. Residents in the neighborhood say they believe the recent addition of caution tape and the boarding of windows on the property, which is for sale, possibly attracted the attention of the assailant.

  1. Congratulations Princeton Police Department – good quick work. You didn’t let the blizzard distract you.

      1. It figures the Planet would conveniently leave that information out. Wouldn’t want to say the illegal word it is not pc and would hurt the residents feelings.
