A flash flood warning is in effect for Central New Jersey until 2:30 a.m. Thursday and a tornado watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Thursday. The tornado watch was previously in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday, but the watch was extended.

Between an inch and an inch and a half of rain is possible. This is in addition to the heavy rain some areas received earlier. Because the ground is already saturated from previous rain, excessive runoff will occur quickly.

Use extra caution of you must drive tonight. Do not drive through flooded roadways. Six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. It is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters.

As of 10:45 p.m., about 100 PSE&G customers in Princeton Junction were without power. About 30 customers in Kingston were without power. A handful of outages were also reported in each of the following towns: Princeton, Montgomery, Lawrenceville, Pennington, Ewing, Trenton, and South Brunswick.
