The Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market has been expanded and is now a two-day event that will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Friday, April 1

Yoga Friendship Day at The College of New Jersey – Social event for teens and adults with special needs.  Snacks and dinner provided; please bring a snack or dessert to share. Location is TCNJ in Ewing; Education Building, Room 212.  Parking in Lot 17 by Education Building. Please 6 pm, The College of New Jersey, 2000 Pennington Road, Princeton. Free.

First Friday Art Opening Reception at Trenton Social – West Windsor resident Kathleen Hurley Liao’s “Moving Pictures: Abstracts in Motion” is an exhibit of abstract work that expresses energy and movement through color, gestures, and mixed media. The opening reception is at 7 p.m. and the exhibit runs through May 5. Trenton Social, 449 S Broad St, Trenton.

Trenton Film Festival – An exploration of all things cinematic at the Trenton Film Festival, March 30-April 3. This year’s festival features 55 films from 16 countries, including documentaries, narrative films, spoken word, animation and music videos by filmmakers from as close as Trenton, Newark and New Hope to as far away as Belarus, Iran and Korea. An opportunity to experience a wide diversity of film and engage with the local Trenton film scene. All-access festival pass: $25 (individual tickets: $8)   Playing on 4/1, 7:30 pm: I Can’t Breathe (Racial Disparity Resolution) (US, Dir. Nick Asenjo, 3m) and Driving While Black (US, Dir. Mnozil Brass – A septet from Vienna, Mnozil Brass is as close to the Monty Python of music as it gets, blending technical virtuosity with comedic brilliance. Repertoire is for all ages and all stages of life, from folk to classical to jazz to pop.  8 p.m. McCarter Theater, 91 University Place, Princeton. Admission $25 and up.

Saturday, April 2

Princeton Environmental Film Festival – Screening of “One Simple Question” at a 10 a.m. followed by Q&A with filmmaker Derek Alan Row. “Seed: The Untold Story” at 1 p.m.. “Meru” at 4 p.m.. “An American Ascent” at 7 p.m. Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon St., Princeton. Free.

Art for Families at the Princeton University Art Museum – Think Flat program invites children to create a playful monster inspired by Takashi Murakami’s colorful compositions. Drop in between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Free.

Puddle Garden Family Story & Hike – Jared Rosenbaum of Wild Ridge Plants will read from his children’s book, “The Puddle Garden.’ Learn how to invite wildlife to your home by introducing native plants into your landscape. Followed by Q&A session and a visit of the Watershed Center’s ‘puddle gardens’. This free event is perfect for families with children of all ages. 1 pm, Watershed Center, 31 Titus Mill Road, Pennington. Free.

Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market – Hundreds of vendors fill every inch of the historic Roebling Machine Shop on South Clinton Ave. in Trenton during the new two-day version of the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each day will feature a whole new lineup of vendors, with the $5 admission good for both days.

Sing Along with the Muppet Movie – Have you found your Rainbow Connection? The Muppet Movie is the 1979 classic that represents the feature film roots of the Muppet Empire, in which Kermit The Frog embarks on a cross-country trip to Hollywood. 2 p.m.,  McCarter Theater, 91 University Place, Princeton. $25 includes a goody bag and interactive movie experience.

Lecture on Nature and Industrialization in British Art – Tim Barringer, professor of art history at Yale University and curator of the current Princeton University Art Museum exhibition, “Pastures Green and Dark Satanic Mills: The British Passion for Landscape” discusses the exhibition. 2 p.m. McCosh 10, Princeton University. Free.

Nightfall – The Princeton Pianists Ensemble presents original student arrangements of classical and popular music with full audiovisual effects. In collaboration with Princeton University Ballet and La Vie en Cello ensemble. 8 p.m., Richardson Auditorium, Princeton University. Admission $15.
