Monday Morning Crash on South Harrison Street Sends Two to Hospital

Two women were injured in a car crash on South Harrison Street just before 8 a.m. on April 11. Kristina Donato, 21, of Seaside Heights, was driving her Toyota Camry northbound on South Harrison Street and lost control of the car on the wet pavement while negotiating the curve in the roadway just before the Harrison Street Bridge. The vehicle began sliding on the roadway, and went into the oncoming lane, striking a Subaru Outback that was traveling southbound on South Harrison. The Subaru was driven by Sara Plehn, 59, of Pennington.

Donato was trapped inside of her vehicle, and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad, the Princeton Fire Department and Plainsboro Rescue had to extract her from the car. She was transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro with a head injury and was later released. Plehn sustained chest, shoulder and knee pain. She was also transported to the hospital and later released.

Both vehicles sustained sever damage and were towed from the scene by Lakeside Towing.

The cause of crash is still under investigation.

  1. I run along this stretch of South Harrison Street regularly in the morning, and am consistently stunned at how fast cars drive on this stretch of road. If drivers could drive a bit slower and pay more attention, our streets would be safer for pedestrians, runners, bikers and …. cars.

  2. South Harrison St is 25 mph and it is only after the bridge that the sign shows 35mph. Besides, there are always potholes on the road after bridge ( not that many this year), so driving at the speed limit is the smartest thing to do. However, we do not know if any of the drivers were speeding, I don’t want to assume that was the case, I don’t know.
