Countdown to Communiversity 2016

communiversity2013The 46th annual Communiversity town and gown celebration will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. this Sunday, April 17.

The festival will be held along Nassau Street, Witherspoon Street, the Palmer Square creen, and the Princeton University campus.

Presented by the Arts Council of Princeton, the event originated as “The Art People’s Party” on the lawn of Nassau Hall in 1970. Later renamed Communiversity to capture the town-gown spirit of the event, the festival has grown to attract more than 35,000 visitors to Princeton each spring.

Communiversity will feature more than 200 artists and merchants from around the tri-state area, representatives from local businesses and nonprofit organizations, entertainment on five stages, student groups, children’s activities, games, and food.

Admission to the event is free for the public. The event will be held rain or shine.

Drive to Princeton early and park, or ride the shuttle from the Princeton Shopping Center to avoid the traffic jam. The shuttle pick up visitors near the Sherwin Williams at the shopping center, and will drop off visitors at the corner of Wiggins Street and Witherspoon Street between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30pm.

If you would like your photos of Communiversity included in Planet Princeton’s online Twitter photo gallery, please use the hashtag #communiversity.

  1. Note: The shuttle pickup location is the Princeton Shopping Center parking lot next to the PFARS ambulance station on North Harrison Street (street address is 237 N Harrison). This is near the Rite-Aid. Don’t look for the bus by Sherwin Williams. Sherwin Williams is the other side of the mall, and you are unlikely to find the bus over there. Check the Princeton Arts Council website for more details. (By the way, the shuttle is a great way to get to Communiversity. Driving a car downtown on Communiversity Day is really not to be recommended.)
