Assistant Princeton Municipal Engineer Deanna Stockton will replace Bob Kiser as the head engineer at the end of June, town officials announced Monday night.

Kiser will retire after serving as the head engineer for Princeton Township and the consolidated Princeton for 33 years.

Hired as the assistant township Engineer under Kiser in 2000, she relocated to the Netherlands in 2002 due to her husband’s job assignment and returned to continue as assistant engineer from 2005 to the present.

Stockton has been involved in every major municipal project of the consolidated Princeton and the former township for more than a decade.  Major projects she played a key leadership role in include the $4.4 million Mountain Lakes dredging and dam restoration project, the $6.7 million Community Park pool and recreation facility improvements, the renovation of the former Princeton Borough municipal building, and several roadway improvement projects.

Town officials praised her for her ability to work well other government entities, residents, and Princeton University.  Officials said she has secured grants for road and traffic signal projects, a bicycle master plan, and a federally-funded bike share program in coordination with Princeton University.

Stockton will lead a department of eleven and will work closely with Jack West, the municipal land use engineer.

Prior to coming to Princeton, Stockton worked for the LDC Design Group of Hillsboro, Oregon. She earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Santa Clara University in California. She is a licensed engineer in New Jersey and Oregon, and currently serves as the second vice president of the Professional Engineers Society of Mercer County.  She lives in Montgomery Township with her husband and two daughters.
