Monroe Senior Dies in South Brunswick Crash

A 96-year-old man from Monroe died after a crash that took place on Cranbury- South River Road (Route 535) at the intersection of Route 32 just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A Honda Accord was making a left turn from Route 535 north onto Route 32 and a BMW sedan which was headed south on Route 535. The BMW sedan made contact with the passenger side of the Honda Accord as both vehicles entered the intersection. The 96-year-old was a passenger in the Accord. The driver of the Honda Accord was the only other occupant and was not injured. The driver and sole occupant of the BMW sedan, a 55 year-old male from Philadelphia, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The Monmouth Junction Fire Department, First Aid Squads from Monmouth Junction, and paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University assisted at the scene. Route 535 at the intersection of Route 32 was closed for four hours as police investigated the crash.

The crash is currently still under investigation by Officer Frank Mongalieri of the South Brunswick Police Department Traffic Bureau and Detective Donald Heck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
