‘Trump Revealed’ Author Marc Fisher to Speak at Princeton University Oct. 6

Trump RevealedWashington Post Editor Marc Fisher will discuss his book ‘Trump Revealed: An American Journey of Ambition, Ego, Money, and Power” at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6 in the Betts Auditorium at Princeton University. The event is free and open to the public.

The talk is the 2016 Rukeyser Lecture, an annual event presented by the University Press Club, a student club for professional freelance journalists at Princeton University.

“Trump Revealed,” which Fisher co-authored with Michael Kranish in collaboration with more than to dozen other Post writers and editors, provides a comprehensive examination of the life of the Republican nominee for president. More than 400 documents used for research for the book are available online on the Washington Post’s website.

Fisher, a senior editor at the Post and Princeton alumnus, has been the enterprise editor, local columnist, and Berlin bureau chief, among other positions over thirty years at the paper. He is the author of “Something in the Air,” a history of radio, and “After the Wall,” an account of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany. He wrote several of the Washington Post articles that won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 2016 and the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2014.

The lecture will address two sets of questions. The first will be questions of political relevance, with a particular focus on Trump’s politics, persona, and influence. Fisher will talk about Trump’s rise to power, the American political climate, and the state of the GOP, offering insights into Trump’s decisions, calculations, and temperament from countless hours of interviews.

The second set of questions will be journalistic in nature. Fisher will discuss how he pursued the topic, conducted interviews, researched Trump, and constructed the book. He’ll talk about his articles for the Washington Post, the feedback he received, the writing process, and the final product.
