Friday, November 25

Christmas Tree Lighting on Palmer Square – Kick off the season with the lighting of the 65-foot Norwegian Spruce on Palmer Square in downtown Princeton. The tree is adorned with more than 32,000 lights and will be lit with the help of Santa Claus. Musical performances by Princeton High School Choir and Bob Denson’s Blues. 5 p.m.

Nutcracker – The American Repertory Ballet brings classic holiday ballet to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score. Directed by Artistic Director Douglas Martin, the American Repertory Ballet will be joined by select students from Princeton Ballet School to tell the story of a young girl named Clara and how a mysterious gift from her Uncle Drosselmeyer brings about enchanted dreams and fantastical scenes. McCarter Theater, 91 University Place, Princeton. Friday and Saturday, 2 and 5:30 p.m. Tickets $25 and up.

Open Mic Night – The Ewing Arts Commission, together with Preservation New Jersey, present the second “Fourth Friday Open Mic” at the 1867 Sanctuary, the historic haven for arts and culture. Relax after a day of Black Friday deals and enjoy local talent, or offer your own to others at this family-friendly event. D&R Canal Walking Tour – Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will hold a free 2.6 mile walking tour along the Delaware & Raritan Canal, exploring  historic aspects of the canal between Port Mercer. Meet 10 a.m. at the Princeton Turning Basin Park, Alexander Road.

Jersey Harmony Chorus Holiday Craft Bazaar and Flea Market  – Crafts, jewelry, toys, gift baskets and other unique items support the woman’s choral ensemble. Food available for purchase. Chorus will perform a few songs during the event. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Griggstown Reform Church Recreation Hall, 1065 Canal Road, Griggstown.

South Brunswick High School Craft Show and Used Clothing Drive – The Project Graduation Craft Show supports the high school’s druge and alcohol-free chaperoned graduation party. The sale features jewelry, handbags, clothing, personal items, gifts for children, home décor, books, homemade food items, sports memorabilia, and more.  Food available for purchase. Performance by the South Brunswick High School Choir.  Activities for children. Bring clothing, linens and soft toys to be donated to a used clothing drive. $2 entrance fee benefits Project Graduation. children free. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 750 ridge Road, Monmouth Junction.

Strolling Holiday Entertainment on Palmer Square -Hear music by Nassau Brass and meet Santa on Saturday. Hear music by Snow, Sleighbells, and Saxophones and meet Santa on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Palmer Square in downtown Princeton.

Roxey Ballet’s American Holiday Classic “Nutcracker” – Join Clara and her friends on her enchanting voyage meeting magical mice, giant rats, marching soldiers, swirling snowflakes, waltzing flowers and the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy and her cavalier.
