John Witherspoon Middle School on Lockdown After Phone Threat (Updated)

Wednesday morning at 9:50 a.m., the Princeton Police Department received a telephone call reporting a threat to the John Witherspoon Middle School.

The school went into lockdown mode as police investigate the incident. Police are on scene at the school. The call is likely a bogus swatting incident, but police must investigate such incidents to make sure students, faculty and staff are safe. Police deemed the school safe just before 11:30 a.m. and students were allowed to return to normal activities.

Last year, local schools received numerous swatting calls. Schools across the state and the country have also received the bogus calls, which law enforcement agencies have had trouble tracing because of the computer technology used to make the calls.
