Longtime Princeton Councilman Won’t Seek Re-election

Miller

Former Princeton Council and Princeton Township Committee President Bernie Miller announced Wednesday night that he will not seek another term on the governing body.

“I will not be a candidate  for re-election to the council in 2017,” Miller said at the Princeton Council’s reorganization meeting Wednesday night at town hall.

“It’s been my honor to serve as a representative for more than 15 years,” he said. “I never viewed it as career, but as a vocation.”

Miller, 87, one of the more independent voices on the Princeton Council over the last two years, was first elected to the governing body of Princeton Township in 2002.

A former senior vice president for Lockheed Martin International, Miller was also the president of ECON, Inc. before his retirement.

Miller and fellow Democrat Jo Butler are both serving the last year of their three-year terms this year. Butler, the most independent voice on the council, has not announced whether she will seek re-election.
