Islamic Society of Central New Jersey Will Host Town Hall Meeting on Civil Rights Saturday

The Islamic Society of Central Jersey will host a town-hall style meeting with elected officials and community partners this Saturday, Jan. 14, to discuss civil rights and civil liberties.

Officials will discuss how the local community can unite to protect and preserve civil rights. The event is free and open to the public.

Speakers include:

Nouran Shehata, U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, State Senator Linda Greenstein, State Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker, South Brunswick Councilman Charles Carley, Islamic Society of Central Jersey Imam Hamad Chebli, Episcopal Bishop William Stokes, State Senator Raymond Lesniak, South Brunswick Chief of Police Raymond Hayducka, South Brunswick Councilwoman Jo Hochman, and South Brunswick Councilman Joe Camarota.

Members of the South Brunswick Board of Education and the South Brunswick Clergy Association will also participate in the discussion.

The meeting will be held from 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey, which is located at 4145 Route 1 South at the intersection of Promenade Boulevard.

  1. It’s great to have such a dialogue. But, it’s a two-way street.

    I hope this Center does its part and strives mightily to minimize any harm that may come to members of our community – members of all races and creeds – by radical extremists.

    The problem of radical Islam – and the heinous acts that have been committed in its name – is a problem that can only be effectively solved from within – by moderate Islam.

  2. We welcome all Syrian refugees to our diverse and friendly Princeton. We need to be more progressive like California and help these war refugees.
