South Brunswick Police investigating carjacking at Route 1 hotel parking lot

Just after 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a guest at the Sonesta ES Suites on Route 1 in South Brunswick was sitting in his Honda Civic, warming his car up when he was approached by two men. One man holding a gun knocked on the driver’s side window and demanded that the driver exit the vehicle. The man with the gun then got into the vehicle and fled the hotel parking lot.

At about 9:30 a.m., Ewing Police recovered the stolen Honda in a parking lot off Bear Tavern Road. Detectives have processed the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

Both suspects were described as medium build. They were wearing black ski masks.

The hotel is on Route 1 south near Raymond Road, across the highway from the South Brunswick Target.
