Winter storm watch in effect Monday night and Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Central New Jersey beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 13 and ending at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14.

About 12 to 18 inches of snow is expected for the Princeton area. Most of the state and Eastern Pennsylvania are likely to receive a significant amount of snow.

There is a chance for strong winds gusting 40 to 50 miles per hour near and at the coast. If these winds do occur, it could lead to additional concerns about blowing snow.

Snow is expected to arrive Monday evening. The heaviest precipitation and strongest winds are expected to occur from late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Some locations may see a lull in the snow during the day Tuesday. Snow is expected to taper off Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
