Fourth annual Princeton Food TruckFest will support Send Hunger Packing and Meals on Wheels

The student eating clubs at Princeton University will host the fourth annual TruckFest food truck festival on Prospect Avenue this Saturday, April 29, from 1 p.m. to 5 pm.

TruckFest 2017 will host more food trucks than previous years, with over 15 local food trucks, including: the Feed Truck, Fork in the Road, Try Vegan, Kona Ice, Maddalena’s Cheesecake, Zinna’s Mobile Bistro, Dump N’ Roll, Mama Dude’s, Nina’s Ice Cream, the Flyin Crepes, the Taco Truck, the French Quarter, Omninon, Suzi’s Rolling Wrappers, and more.

Live entertainment will be provided during the event and participants will have the chance to win prizes donated by local stores. Participants buy food tickets at a table at the event and then use the tickets at the food trucks to purchase food and beverages.

TruckFest is a collaboration between all eleven of Princeton’s eating clubs and is led by the clubs’ community service chairs. This year marks the fourth year TruckFest has been held. In its inaugural year, TruckFest donated $20,000 to Send Hunger Packing Princeton, and in its second year it decided to donate its proceeds to two organizations: Send Hunger Packing Princeton, and Meals on Wheels of Mercer County. Last year, 5,000 people attended TruckFest, and TruckFest was able to raise $33,000 for Send Hunger Packing Princeton and Meals on Wheels. This year, TruckFest has again decided to support these two non-profits.

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meals to homebound individuals in Mercer County in order to promote their wellbeing and independence and foster a better quality of life. Send Hunger Packing Princeton provides children from low-income families in Princeton Public Schools in grades K-5 with food for the weekends so they have the nutrition they need to be able to do their best in school.

Sponsors contributing to TruckFest or donating raffle items include the Princeton Prospect Foundation, Princeton University Office of the Vice President for Campus Life, the Pace Center for Civic Engagement, the Princeton Undergraduate Student Government, the Princeton Graduate Student Government, edWeb.net, 94.5 PST, Island Spa and Sauna, Landau, Triumph Brewery, Gratitude Yoga, the Princeton Record Exchange, the Garden Theater, Dandelion and the Arthur Murray Dance Studio.
