Storm leads to power outages in Princeton and Lawrence

About 150 residences were still without power in Princeton early Tuesday morning due to downed trees, utility poles and wires after a storm hit Princeton early Monday evening. About 90 properties in Lawrence were still without power Tuesday morning.

Many Princeton residents experienced brief power outages during the storm, but many homes in the Shady Brook Lane/Gulick Road/Poe Road area were still without power as of 5 a.m. Tuesday. About two dozen residences in the Franklin Avenue area and handful of residences in the South Harrison Street area were also still without power on Tuesday morning. PSE&G crews are working to restore power in the area. In Lawrence, homes and businesses along Business Route 1 just south of Darrah Lane and the surrounding neighborhood were without power Tuesday morning.

The winds from the storm brought down trees and numerous large branches in Princeton. Some very large branches were removed from the roadways and placed on sidewalks, so be careful if you are biking on town sidewalks and paths today. Cherry Hill Road is closed as of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday between Stuart Road and Route 206 due to a tree down in the roadway near the Unitarian Church, police said.
