School board candidate petitions due July 31

Citizens who want to run for public schools boards in the Nov. 3 general election must file nominating petitions with county clerks by 4 p.m. on July 31.

At least ten signatures, one of which may be the candidate’s, are required to nominate a school board candidate.

For Mercer County school board elections, a blank petition and other information from the county clerk can be found online here. The clerk’s office is located at 240 West State Street, on the 7th floor.

School board elections are non-partisan.

In Princeton, three seats for three years terms will be up for grabs in November. Sources say all three current board members have decided not to seek re-election. The school board will be working on expanding facilities in the coming months and is planning a bond referendum to fund the expansions and possibly the purchase of the Westminster Choir College campus next spring.
