Frontier Airlines to offer non-stop service from Trenton-Mercer Airport to Miami and increase trips to two other Florida destinations

Frontier Airlines will introduce new non-stop service from Trenton-Mercer Airport to Miami on Oct. 6 and will increase the number of trips to Orlando and Tampa this winter, an airline spokesman said today.

The airline also had added flights to Minneapolis from Trenton-Mercer Airport and has expanded service to West Palm Beach to operate year-round, officials said. In November of 2015, the airline cut service to Minneapolis from Trenton.

“Our commitment to the Trenton community runs deep. It has been the continued support from the airport, local leaders and most importantly the community that allows us to continue to expand our service and make flying affordable,” said Daniel Shurz, the senior vice president for commercial for Frontier. “We are proud to continue to serve the Trenton, central New Jersey and surrounding areas with our low fares done right philosophy.”

Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said local officials are pleased that Frontier is expanding service to and from Florida. “Frontier has proved itself to be a nimble and creative carrier that continues to serve this region well,” he said.

With the addition of Miami and Minneapolis, Frontier will offer 11 non-stop destinations from Trenton-Mercer Airport. According to the airline, Frontier will offer more seats to Florida this winter than in previous years.

In 2014, Frontier offered flights to 18 destinations from Trenton-Mercer Airport. The company cut several routes later, but then began adding flights again at the Ewing-based airport.

Allegiant Air began offering flights out of Trenton-Mercer Airport last year, and now offers non-stop flights from the airport to Daytona Beach, Orlando, Fort Myers, and Tampa.
