NJDOT will detour traffic on part of Route 206 in Princeton for two nights

The New Jersey Department of Transportation will detour traffic on Route 206 in Princeton Friday and Saturday night between Herrontown Road and Ewing Street so workers can make temporary repairs to a culvert located between Hillside Avenue and Arreton Road.

Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 until 8 a.m. Saturday, Route 206 will be closed between Herrontown Road and Ewing Street while workers mill a section of the roadway, install large steel plates, and pave over the plates until a permanent repair can be scheduled. The same section of 206 will be closed again from 9 p.m. on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The following detours for passenger vehicle and trucks will be in place:

Passenger Vehicle Detour

Northbound – From Route 206 north make a right onto Ewing Street, turn left onto Mount Lucas Road and turn left onto Herrontown Road, follow to Route 206.

Southbound – From Route 206 make a left onto Herrontown Road, turn right onto Mount Lucas Road and turn right onto Ewing Street, follow to Route 206.

Truck Detour

Last month during a scheduled inspection, officials determined that the more than 100 year-old, 14-foot culvert located on Route 206/State Street between Hillside Avenue and Arreton Road was in need of replacement. A new permanent culvert is being manufactured and will be installed at a later date.
