Princeton resident arrested for recent car burglaries

Police arrested a Princeton resident on Thursday for a recent string of burglaries where the thief stole cash and items from unlocked cars.

Six vehicles were broken into on Oct. 21 and 22 and items were stolen from the vehicles. No vehicles were stolen. About $30 worth of items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a home on the 100 block of Bayard Lane. Miscellaneous items were stolen from a parked and unlocked vehicle in the driveway of a home on the 100 block of Stanworth Lane. The total value of the stolen items was unknown. An iPad 4 and $1,000 in cash were stolen from a parked and unlocked vehicle in the driveway of a home on the 100 block of Green Street. The total value of the loss was $1,500. About $100 worth of miscellaneous items were stolen from a parked and unlocked vehicle in the driveway of a home on the 100 block of Spruce Street.  An unlocked vehicle was ransacked while it was parked in the driveway of a home on Hodge Road. Another unlocked vehicle was ransacked while it was parked in the driveway of a home on the 100 block of Cleveland Lane.

Jose Gonell, 20, of Leigh Avenue was arrested on Thursday  in connection with recent car burglaries along Bayard Lane. Detectives identified Gonell as a suspect via evidence at the scene of the burglaries, police said. Gonell has been charged with four counts of burglary and theft.

Police remind residents to keep vehicles locked at all times. Remove cash, computers, phones, tablets, and other valuables from vehicles.
