A formal English Tea with scones and strawberry jam, sandwiches, and black tea will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street in Princeton. The event will benefit the Trinity Choirs’ July 2017 trip to Westminster Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral. The combined Trinity Choirs — which include children — will be the choir-in-residence during their trip to the English cathedrals and will sing daily services for a week each at both Westminster and Canterbury.
The menu includes Coronation Chicken Salad sandwiches, cucumber and Boursin sandwiches, smoked salmon and dill sandwiches, pimento cheese, and more.
Sweets will include lemon squares, sugar cookies, Tiffin, brownies, Linzer torte bars, and scones with clotted cream and jam.
For the tea, members of the parish will set 25 tables for four with English and American china, all complemented with fresh floral arrangements created by Trinity parishioners. Each table setting will be unique, the china will be identified, and British themes will be evident. Waiters will also be Trinity parishioners — all men dressed in attire ready to enter British “service.”
Following the English Tea, at 5 p.m., all are invited to the sanctuary to listen to the Trinity choirs sing the service of choral evensong.
Reserved tickets for the English Tea are $30 ($35 the day of the event) and $15 for children under 12. To make a reservation, email email@example.com
